Description
Description: It is the intent of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) to acquire cataloging expertise to produce copy or core cataloging records and archival cataloging records and to perform final processing (including authorization and labeling) for up to 550 English language audiovisual monographs and electronic resources annually, including various media types (e.g., videocassettes, DVDs, streaming videos, CD-ROMs, etc.) and archival motion pictures. Experience in applying the Anglo-American Cataloging Rules, 2nd Edition, 2002 Revision (AACR2) for bibliographic control of audiovisuals and electronic resources is required, and it is highly desirable that the Contractor have a knowledge of archival cataloging standards for moving images, Library of Congress Rule Interpretations, NLM?s classification scheme, and NLM?s MeSH subject thesaurus. It is also required that offerors demonstrate experience in using an integrated library system or bibliographic utility for the creation and maintenance of cataloging and authority records. Experience using the Voyager integrated library system is highly desirable NLM will supply equipment during the course of the contract period. The work shall be performed onsite at NLM in the NLM Voyager system, the integrated library system used by the library for the creation and editing of bibliographic and authority records. This requirement is set aside 100% for small businesses. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 519120 and the size standard is not-to-exceed $6 million. It is anticipated that a one-year fixed price, indefinite delivery (indefinite quantity) type contract will be awarded. The contract will contain options for four (4) successive one-year periods with options for additional quantities during each year. The Request for Proposal (RFP) will be available approximately fifteen calendar days from publication of this announcement and can be downloaded on or about June 13, 2005 from the FEDBIZOPPS website. All responsible sources may submit proposals which will be considered by the National Library of Medicine.
