Description
Request for Information for a "Grammar-Spell Check" solution. The Social Security Administration (SSA) Distributed Online Correspondence System (DOCS) is a client-server system used to send correspondence to beneficiaries/recipients notifying them of actions on their account. Currently there are approximately 40,000 employees with access to the system, and they produce approximately 17,000 notices per day. Notices are prepared in either English or Spanish. SSA plans to migrate to a mainframe-based Java application accessed on the SSA intranet. This will improve the capabilities of the system. Employees will edit Universal Text Identifier (UTI) paragraphs in order to customize documents to individual situations. The agency is seeking a software solution for checking grammar and spelling while editing UTIs and documents to be sent to beneficiaries and recipients. Requirements: All solutions proposed must be scaleable to the volume experienced by SSA. Consideration will be given to automated solutions that meet the Agency?s EITA criteria for sound architecture, i.e., non-proprietary (open) software components, hosting on standard hardware, a flexible user interface, 508 compliance and standard interface design. Solutions must be able to run on a mainframe (not a PC or client-server application). It must be capable of being used by a Java application accessed on the SSA intranet. The software must be capable of checking both the grammar and spelling of UTIs and documents simultaneously. The software must be capable of checking the grammar and spelling of UTIs and documents written in either English or Spanish (i.e. separate rules of grammar must be used for each language). Responses: Interested vendors must be able to provide verifiable proof by submitting information in sufficient detail to demonstrate their ability to meet the Agency?s requirements. Vendors should provide the names and contact information of customers. We reserve the right to verify information with references. Vendors responding should indicate whether their products are available on the GSA Schedule. Pricing data may be submitted. This is not a request for proposal and the Government does not intend to pay for information submitted. Responses should be limited to 15 pages. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation of the data received. No contract award will be made on the basis of responses received; however, this information will be used in SSA?s assessment of capable sources. Although electronic responses are encouraged, any paper responses to this notice should be submitted in duplicate. All responses are due within 15 days of this publication and should refer to ?Grammar-Spell Check?. Responses must be addressed to the following office: Social Security Administration Office of Acquisition and Grants Attention: Madeline Y.
