Description
The U.S. Geological Survey, Biological Resources Discipline, National Wildlife Health Center, Madison, Wisconsin anticipates award of a noncompetitive procurement to Xenogen for purchase of a Biophotonic in vivo Imager for infectious disease research to be delivered by September 30, 2005. In vivo biophotonic imaging is a proprietary technology from Xenogen that illuminates biological process taking place in a living mammal. The IVIS Imaging System 200 is the only one known to possess the following characteristics: 1) 3.9-26cm filed of view, capable of imaging up to five mice or two rats simultaneously; 2) Minimum detectable luminance of 100 photons/s/cm2/sr ; 3) A one inch square back-thinned, back illuminated CCD with adjustable 12-position filter wheel; 4) system must be calibrated against U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards.; 5) The system must include an integrated gas anesthesia capability and a heated sample shelf to maintain animal body temperature during imaging; 6) System must include a set of spectral imaging filters and laser galvanometer for 3-D image reconstruction; 7) System must provide Biophotonic Imaging Patent Rights. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY; no formal RFQ will be available. This award will be made on or about June 20, 2005. The NAICS code for the acquisition is 541710. A determination not to continue with this acquisition based upon response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Interested vendors may identify their interest and capability to respond within ten days of this announcement.
