Description
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) has been working on chlorinated solvent biodegradation and bioremediation of ground water discharging to wetland environments for several years at various federal sites. The USGS is entering into a Cooperative Research & Development Agreement with GeoSyntec Consultants, Inc. to further test a new anaerobic microbial consortium and an engineered, horizontal permeable reactive mat, both developed by USGS, which have bioremediation application for chlorinated solvents and other contaminants in various near surface and alternate geologic environments. This is not a procurement, the partners in CRADAs contribute funds, equipment, and in-kind services to any given project. For information on the science effort contact Michelle M. Lorah, Maryland Water Science Center, mmlorah@usgs.gov. For information on Technology Transfer mechanisms contact Julia M. Giller, Technology Transfer Office, (850) 942-9500 ext. 3034 or jgiller@usgs.gov.
