- Description
- The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Aeronomy Laboratory (AL) proposes to negotiate on a sole source basis under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c) with Big Sky Laser, 601 Haggerty Lane, Bozeman, MT 59715 for 2 YAG Laser systems with the following specifications. NOAA requires two ultra-light compact Nd:YAG lasers operating at 532 nm and 1064 nm for atmospheric measurements of aerosol optical properties. The laser systems must be light weight and compact for aircraft deployment. These systems must be compatible with the previously developed field instruments and consistent with laboratory calibration work. The following specifications must be met: pulse energy greater than or equal to 30 mJ at 532 nm; Pulse energy greater than or equal to 1064 nm; repetition rate: 20 to 30 Hz; Low divergence: less than or equal to 1 mrad; pulse width less than 7 ns; 19 inch rack mounted power supply; light weight less than 45 lbs (best system at 33 lbs); compact laser head: less than 6? x 10? (best system at 3? x 10?); 400 Hz compatible. Market research has failed to identify any other source of Nd:YAG lasers suitable for this application. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether or not use of competitive procedures to fulfill this requirement would be in the Government?s best interest and must address qualifications pertinent to this requirement. No RFQ package is available. This procurement is being conducted per Simplified Acquisition Procedures FAR Part 13.1.
