Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District is soliciting prospective contractors for repairs to the three service gates at Townshend Lake Dam, Vermont. Specific work items include the replacement of a broken wire rope (cable) at one gate , the replacement of a worn wire rope at a second gate, and the replacement of a worn wire rope and a broken chain at a third gate. The wire ropes to be replaced, one per gate, are approximately 1,450 feet long each. The new wire ropes shall be of the sa me length as the original and made of 1-inch diameter drawn galvanized extra-improved plow steel. The chain to be replaced is approximately 48 feet long. The new chain shall be of the same length and fabricated of monel stainless steel with 110 rollers, 110 pins, and 220 side bars. Additional work involves minor mechanical repairs to the hoist brake mechanism for the gate with a broken wire rope. The Contractor is required to complete the work in a specific sequence, to complete the work on one gate bef ore beginning work on an additional gate, and to work continuously on the repairs to a specific gate until that gate is fully repaired and operational (including weekend work if necessary, but not work beyond daylight hours). Seven days notice to the Gove rnment is required prior to beginning work at the site. The NAICS code for this Procurement is 237990, with a Size Standard of $17.02 million. This solicitation is restricted to Service Disabled Veteran small business firms. The estimated issue date fo r this procurement is on or about 31 May 2005. Prospective contractors and subcontractors are required to self-register their firm or office on the Internet to receive the solicitation. Registration instructions are available on the Internet at http://ww w.nae.usace.army.mil as well as the media by which the solicitation will be made available. Amendments, if any, to this solicitation will be made available at this Internet site. Neither telephonic, mailed nor fax requests will be accepted. Those regist ering are responsible for the accuracy of the information on the registration list. All responsible sources may submit a bid, which will be considered by the New England District.
