Description
The United States Coast Guard Research & Development Center intends to negotiate and award a sole-source contract to the Center for Ocean Technology (COT) at the University of South Florida (USF) located in Saint Petersburg Florida, to provide minor modification to, support services for, and capability testing of the pole-mounted version of the Mark II - Mobile Inspection Package (MIP). The pole-mounted version of the Mark II - MIP system is a real time, underwater, 3-D, geo-located, acoustic imaging system being developed under funding from the Office of Naval Research at USF COT. The pole-mounted Mark II - MIP produces highly detailed 3-D underwater imagery that is necessary to support Coast Guard (CG) underwater port security inspection requirements. The sole-source contract will provide the necessary funds to supplement the ongoing development to conduct the Coast Guard capabilities evaluation of the pole-mounted version of the Mark II mobile Inspection Package (MIP) for underwater imaging. The CG R&D Center has been working on the MIP system with USF COT and ONR since 1999 and is leveraging the use of ONR's equipment and the ongoing developmental efforts to produce a Coast Guard specific pole-mounted version of the MIP and conduct testing to determine the actual system's performance capabilities. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 541330. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this requirement to the above address. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct future competitive procurement(s). To be eligible for award, contractors must be registered with the Central Contractor Registration (CCR): http://www.ccr.gov For information concerning the acquisition, contact the contracting official listed above. See notes 22.
