- Description
- The U. S. Coast Guard has decided to set aside this acquisition for HubZone small businesses; therefore, only HubZone certified small businesses may apply. The acquisition is for drydock repairs to the USCGC TARPON (WPB-87310), an 87 foot Patrol Boat, at the contractor?s facility. This procurement is geographically restricted from Brownsville, TX to Shallotte Inlet, NC. The Coast Guard intends to conduct this procurement in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items, and FAR Subpart 13.5, Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. The simplified acquisition will be issued as a best value Request for Quotes (RFQ), on or about 20 May 05 with quotes due on or about 20 June 05 via the Federal Business Opportunities (FEDBIZOPPS) web page at www.eps.gov. Hard copies of the specification and solicitation will not be issued. A CD-ROM containing all applicable drawings is available free of charge to contractors upon request not later than three (3) days from the solicitation issuance. The CD-ROM(s) contain WINDOWS compliant raster/vector formats (e.g.*.DWF, etc). Drawings are still available in hardcopy; however, a non-refundable charge of $150.00 is required in the form of a certified check or money order made payable to the U.S. Coast Guard for requested drawings. The standard industrial classification code is 3731 and the NAICS is 336611. The home pier of the vessel is Tybee Island, GA. The vessel?s availability is for forty-two (42) calendar days, starting on/about October 3, 2005. The work will include, but is not limited to welding repairs; clean sewage and grey water collection and holding tanks; remove, inspect and reinstall propeller shafts; inspect water-lubricated shaft bearings; remove, inspect and reinstall propellers; preserve transducer hull rings; overhaul and renew valves; remove, inspect and reinstall rudder assemblies; preserve main deck surfaces; preserve rib wet notch deck and stern door interior surface; coating system visual inspection; painting of draft marks; preserve freeboard; preserve superstructure; renew cathodic protection system; inspect transducer fairing; replace SSDG sea water cooling system overboard valves with flanged valves; preserve forward peak compartment; inspect hull plating; renew hatch coaming; remove, inspect and reinstall stern launch door pivot pins, bushings and washers; provide temporary logistics and routine drydocking. All welding and brazing shall be accomplished by trained welders who have been certified by the applicable regulatory code performance qualifications procedures.
