- 05T0131- Data Cartridges Solicitation Due Date cob, 20 May 05 The government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) and FAR 6.302-1(a)(2)(i). The item being procured is: 350 each Data Cartridges with 300 Gigabyte (uncompressed) quad density data cartridges with storage case. This item is being purchased for daily backup of sensitive imagery analysis data. Cartridge shells are made of high-impact molded, anti-static plastic to protect valuable recorded data against shock and transient debris. Metal particle tape formualtion and construction consists of a durable, longitundinally oriented binder matrix with polyester base film and conductive carbon backcoating for superior high-density recording. Overall data cartridge dimensions without the storage case are 5.9" high x 10" wide x 1.3" deep. The reason for going to one source is because the manufacturer holds patent rights for these data cartridges and their exclusive use in their drive units. The quality of the material used and the precision standards to which these cartridges are manufactured ensures product durability and operational reliability during the use and prolonged periods of archived storage. The solicitation number is FA8601-05-T-0131, North American Industrial Classification (NAICS) code 334112, the size standard is 1,000 employees. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations, however, any quotation received within seven (7) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to the notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
