Description

The Southern Plains Area for the Agricultural Research Service, of the U.S. Department of Agriculture intends to issue an award to Microwave Telemetry Inc., 8835 Columbia 100 Pkwy, Ste K&L, Columbia, MD 21045. This is a sole source procurement under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This notice of intent is not a request for quotations (RFQ) for competition. This is a simplified acquisition. The Dale Bumpers National Aquaculture Research Center, Stuttgart, Arkansas requires One time purchase of 25 PTT (Platform Terminal Transmitter) satellite transmitters for bird depredation research. The specific item is only manufactured by a single company, Microwave Telemetry, Inc. The specific item consists of 45 gram, which is essential to weigh less than 5% of the bird?s body mass. It is ARGOS/GPS rated, so it meets the most specific requirement in that the accuracy and precision meets the needs of the study (+ 15 meters). It is solar powered so it meets the duration needs of the study (up to 3 years). Lastly, it has been used in other cormorant and diving bird research and has proved to be reliable and durable.
