Description
This project consists of the renourishment of the Manatee County beaches which were damaged as a result of the recent hurricanes. The estimated quantity of beach fill required is 350,000 cubic yards. The length of beach to be renourished is estimat ed at 4.2 miles. The borrow area is located approximately 1.0 miles from the project site. The type of dredging equipment that will probably be required for this project is a cutterhead dredge. Detailed project description and performance period will be provided in the solicitation. Magnitude of construction is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. The solicitation will be issued on or about 29 November 2004 with bids due on or about 28 December 2004. There will be a price preference for certified HUBZone small business concerns that comply with the requirements in the solicitation as stipulated in FAR 19.1307. Solicitation will be issued in electronic format only and will be posted on our website. All interested bidders must register electronical ly. If you are not registered, the Government is not responsible with providing you with notifications of any changes to this solicitation. NOTE: Solic itation number W912EP-05-B-0001, Beach Renourishment Projects, is hereby cancelled in its entirety. THIS IS AN UNRESTRICTED ACQUISITION. COAST GUARD CERTIFICATION OF VESSELS IS REQUIRED. ALL RESPONSIBLE BIDDERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE. This proje ct requires the use of Coast Guard certified plant and equipment. Since the Government is not aware of any small business firm that has access to certified plant and equipment, we plan to issue an unrestricted solicitation for this work no earlier than 15 days from the date this announcement first appears in fedbizopps. However, all 8(a) certified firms, HUBZone certified firms, and other small business firms with capability to perform this work are encouraged to make their interest known to the point of contact identified below as soon as possible. If a qualified 8(a) firm or HUBZone firm becomes known to us prior to the date the solicitation is issued, we may elect to set-aside this project in accordance with procedures of FAR subpart 19.8 or 19.13, as applicable. If no qualified 8(a) certified firm or HUBZone certified firm makes their interest known, but at least two small business firms make their interest known, we may elect to set-aside this project in accordance with procedures of FAR subpart 19.5 . If no such firms make their interest known prior to the date the solicitation is issued, the solicitation shall be issued on an unrestricted basis and all firms regardless of size shall be eligible and encouraged to compete for this project.
