- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the Quantum Electrical Metrology Division, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis under authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1), with Stanford Research Systems Inc. of Sunnyvale, CA for a Model DS345 30 MHz Function/Arbitrary Generator with GPIB interface and manual. This equipment will be incorporated into the single-electron tunneling (SET) measurement system in the Quantum Electrical Metrology Division which currently includes five (5) DS345 Generators. Sole source determination is based on the following: 1) The existing software has been written for the existing Stanford Research Systems equipment. 2) Purchase of an additional DS345 Generator will ensure 100% compatibility & functionality with the existing system 3) Stanford Research Systems inc. is the sole manufacturer and distributor of the equipment. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations, however, responses received by May 13, 2005, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
