- The purpose and intent of this contract is to secure services for pre-commercial thinning (PCT) of approximately 272 acres of conifer reproduction approximately 26 to 28 years old, made up of 10 overstocked second growth stands. The work is located on the Tongass National Forest?s Sitka Ranger District. The project area is located on the Southern end of Chichagof Island. The contract items are on the southern side Tenakee Inlet in the Crab Bay area approximately 6 miles southwest of Tenakee Springs and approximately 45 air miles north of Sitka, Alaska. No roads connect Sitka with the contract area. Access to the area is only by boat, floatplane, or helicopter. The performance period is 183 days. The solicitation will be posted on FedBizOpps website on or about May 18, 2005 for viewing and printing. Potential offerors are requested to the solicitation from the Internet if at all possible. Alternatively, a hard copy of the solicitation documents may be requested via fax at 907.228.6254. Fax requests should reference solicitation KTN-05-41. Telephone requests will not be honored. Offers will be due approximately 21 calendar days after the solicitation issue date. AUTOMATIC NOTIFICATION: By registering to receive notification on posted synopses, you will be automatically notified via email of any changes to the project.
