Description
The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City, Florida intends to issue a sole source three-year requirements contract to Irvin Aerospace Incorporated (IAI), 3701 West Warner Avenue, Santa Ana, California 92704 for the procurement of approximately 929 each SF-10A Round Canopy Parachutes (P/N 742341-1) (as specified in each individual delivery order). The SF-10A parachutes are only available from IAI by direction of the Marine Corp Systems Command (MARCORPSYSCOM). The SF-10A parachute forms part of a highly specialized airborne delivery system for Marines and Special Operation Forces, which have undergone extensive testing and qualification by the Test and Experimentation Command Airborne and Special Operations Test Directorate (ABNSOTD). Based on successful testing by ABNSOTD, the SF-10A parachute was adopted for use by Special Operation Forces. Because the SF-10A has been successfully tested and qualified for low altitude missions, the SF-10A has been adopted fo! r use by the U.S. Marine Corp when conducting similar missions by Marine Corp personnel. Marine Corp parachutists are only allowed to use those articles, which have been successfully tested and qualified. The SF-10A parachute being acquired has been verified to perform to rigid requirements as specified in Marine Corp Order (MCO) 3500.20A for Marine Corp Parachuting and Diving Policy and Program Administration. The extensive testing and certification for the Marine Corp is necessary for these critical systems since failure of a parachute could result in the death or injury of a Marine. The SF-10A is the only known parachute specifically designed to deliver a fully combat ready troop into a small rugged drop zone at high elevations. NAICS Code is 314999. SBA Size Standard is 500 employees. FSC 1670. Numbered Note 22 applies to this announcement. NSWC PC plans on releasing the solicitation electronically only. Shipment will be FOB Destination to, Naval Support Acti! vity Panama City, FL 101 Vernon Avenue, Panama City, FL 32407-7001.
