- NASA/Kennedy Space Center (KSC) has a requirement for firefighting, rescue, and safety equipment to be installed on a new fire truck recently purchased from Pierce Manufacturing, Incorporated of Appleton, Wisconsin. See attachment for a complete listing of the equipment. NASA/KSC intends to procure these items and have them installed by Ten-8 Fire Equipment, Incorporated of Sanford, Florida. Ten-8 Fire Equipment is the authorized Florida dealership of Pierce Manufacturing, Inc. The Government intends to procure the items and their installation from Ten-8 Fire Equipment in order to maintain the corrosion coverage of the original manufacturers warranty received from Pierce Manufacturing. Installation of the equipment by other than Pierce Manufacturing or an authorized dealer would negate the corrosion warranty. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on May 6, 2005. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
