Description
The United States Army Communications-Electronic Command (CECOM) intends to award a new work modification to contract W15P7T-04-C-P019 on a non-competitive basis in support of the Massively Deployable Unattended Ground Sensor (MDUGS) system. The ant icipated award will be made under the Authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source, to General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, Inc. (GDAIS), Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Government does not possess detailed technical data for the MDUGS software and algorithms to provide to other potential sources. MDUGS is an advanced networked acoustic and seismic sensor capable of detecting vehicle and personnel targets. It is used to provide critical battlefield information for use by Warfighters to increase situational awareness. The proposed R&D effort will include refining existing target tracking capabilities, improving data communications performance, and enhancing personnel detection and tracking methods. The MDUGS will b e used to demonstrate critical technical elements in support of the Armys Future Combat System (FCS). This additional effort is expected to have a period of performance of approximately 20 months. A tracking number of W15P7T-05-R-P010 has been assigned to this effort and should be referenced along with the contract number of W15P7T-04-C-P019. The Government does not intend on issuing a formal solicitation due to the sole source status. See Note 22.
