Description
US or Foreign flag Roll On ? Roll Off (RO/RO) vessel with Quarter Stern or Slewing Stern Ramp with minimum vertical ramp opening and minimum deck heights of 14?6? (fourteen feet six inches) and 60,000 square feet cargo capacity, with gear capable of self-loading and self-discharge to carry cargo consisting of 157 pieces of wheeled vehicles, rolling stock, boxes and standard 20? containers. Minimum required speed is 15 knots laden in moderate weather. Vessel must also be able to carry a minimum of 12 additional personnel. (Packing List available upon request.) In accordance with the Cargo Preference Act of 1904 and Section IIIA.3 of the Voluntary Intermodal Sealift Agreement (VISA) (see 69 FEDERAL REGISTER 25166-25168, May 5, 2004, or most current reference), preference will be given to U.S. flag vessels and VISA participants. Under the Cargo Preference Act of 1904, any reflagging or repair work to: (1) enable the vessel to meet applicable standards to become a vessel of the United States; or (2) to convert the vessel to a more militarily useful configuration; must be performed in the United States.
