Description
This solicitation (when released) will be written to include multiple year (i.e. 5 years) requirement and will utilize range pricing and Best Value criteria. This simulator is used to provide battle noises and other effects during troop maneuvers. It produces a flash of light followed by a loud report. The simulator has a one-piece aluminum case with an extracting rim, and resembles a large shotgun shell. The case contains a percussion primer mounted in the base, a black powder propelling charge, a de lay fuse, and an inner case containing a flash charge. The simulator is fired from a pyrotechnic Pistol (AN-M8). Aimed at a 45 degree elevation, the height of the burst is approximately 100 feet. The TDP for this effort is assigned as Distribution D. The unclassified CD-ROM will be mailed to the offerors that have requested the CD-ROM and who have their certifications in order to receive distribution D as verified by the U.S./Canada Join Certification Office. If contractors want to become certified in order to receive the TDP for the M74 simulator, They must contact the Commander, Defense Logistics Information Service (DL IS) Attn: U.S./Canada Joint Certification Officer, 74 Washington Avenue North, Battle Creek, Michigan 49017-3084 or call DLIS at (800) 352-3572. The release of the solicitation is expected on or about 15 May 2005.
