Description
The purpose of this modification is to answer questions received from potential offerors.Question 1: The solicitation reads replacement prime mover engine. I need you to define (replacement) as it is intended in this solicitation. Answer 1: The intent of solicitation is to remove the Genset, haul it to the factory, disconnect the prime mover engine, replace it with a new engine and couple the existing generator, factory test the set, then bring the set back to the site and install it on the existing facility and perform the field test. Question 2: Can rebuilt engine be used to (replace) the existing engine? Answer 2: A rebuilt engine cannot be used. Question 3: Would you accept your original engine rebuilt as an alternative to replacement with contingent pricing for major casting as needed, since we are unsure of the extent of damage inside the engine? Answer 3: A rebuilt engine is not acceptable. Question 4: If a rebuilt engine is acceptable, would you accept a usable salvage cylinder block and /or crankshaft as part of the rebuild or would you specify new only replacement part? Answer 4: See answer to number 3. Question 5: Do you have specific detail of your term (rework) as it relates to the generator? Is this a general term to be used at contractor's discretion? Answer 5: The intent of solicitation is to replace the existing engine with a new engine. Retain the existing generator and couple it to the new replaced engine. Question 6: Who is responsible for low voltage disconnect and reconnect of the rear generator cabinet? Answer 6: The Naval Research Laboratory will be responsible for the low voltage disconnect and reconnect of the rear generator cabinet. Question 7: Does any low voltage wiring in the rear cabinet serve a purpose that would prevent them from being disconnected while the unit is removed? Answer 7: At the present it is not anticipated that the low voltage wiring in the rear cabinet serves a purpose, however if such an issue arises the Naval Research Laboratory will take care of any such event. Question 8: Can the repairs to the unit be done on site? Answer 8: The repairs cannot be done on site.
