Description
All interested contractors are invited to attend an Industry Awareness/Risk Mitigation Workshop to be held on Thursday, 19 May 2005 at the College of Southern Maryland. The Industry Awareness Day/Risk Mitigation Workshop will take place from 8:30 am until 3:00 pm in building BI, room 113E. The College of Southern Maryland is located at 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata, MD 20646. The purpose of this meeting is to provide an opportunity for early industry involvement in the Government?s proposed approach for the procurement of the Joint Laser Ordnance Neutralization Systems (JLONS). The (JLONS) shall consist of a modular laser system that is to be capable of being integrated within the Cougar, HMMWV, and RC-50. The system shall be designed to use a laser to neutralize ordnance and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in accordance with the performance parameters and other attributes. The following read-ahead documents have been posted to the NAVSEA Indian Head World Wide web site at www.ih.navy.mil/contracts for downloading by any interested contractor: 1) Draft Statement of Work; 2) Draft Performance Specification; 3) White Paper Instructions for JLONS Industry Day. Attendance at the Industry Awareness Day/Risk Mitigation Workshop is not a prerequisite for ultimately submitting a proposal. However, it will provide a valuable opportunity for questions and answers and industry input into the read-ahead documentation. The Government requests industry input on the topics in the white paper instructions and a thorough review and edit of the Draft Statement of Work and Draft Performance Specification. White Paper submissions from each vendor shall be treated as proprietary. Seating is limited. Request a maximum of two (2) representatives per vendor. Request attendees register for the Industry Awareness Day/Risk Mitigation Workshop by providing company ! name, name(s) of attendees, address, telephone number, and e-mail address not later than 17 May 2005. Registration data must be e-mailed to the POC identified above. Use your e-mail read notification feature to confirm the contract specialist?s receipt of your registration. Any advance questions and/or comments pertaining to the Industry Awareness Day/Risk Mitigation Workshop or the read-ahead documentation may be e-mailed to the POC so that they can be addressed at Industry Day. The purpose of this Industry Awareness Day/Risk Mitigation Workshop is not to obtain proposals and is solely to offer early industry involvement in a contemplated U.S. Navy procurement. The Government does not intend to pay for information obtained during the workshop or for the time and expense of the industry participants involved.
