Description
The purpose of this Amendment is to answer technical questions in response to the Solicitation. The following are answers to technical questions that were submitted prior to the deadline (4 April 2005, Noon Mountain Standard Time). The deadline for t echnical questions has expired. The closing date/time for Request for Quotations is 14 April 2005, Noon Mountain Standard Time. Please note that there are five pictures that our located at our website http://www.yuma.army.mil/contracting/index.html. If you are unable to access the pictures at the web site, then email Michael.McDaniel@yuma.army.mil to request that the pictures be sent to you via email. The five pictures are as follows: Picture 1: Rubber Ballast Block front that is to be used for both the 11. 5 inches Wide X 11.5 inches Tall X 47 inches Long (plus or minus 0.5 inches), Weight is between 130 to 135 pounds each and 11.5 inches Wide X 11.5 inches Tall X 95 inches Long (plus or minus 0.5 inches), Weight is between 260 to 265 pounds each. Note that this picture shows the Rubber Ballast Block with an 8 inch diameter hole cut through the center lengthwise. Picture 2: 96 inch Rubber Ballast Block Top. Picture 3: 96 inch Rubber Ballast Block Perspective. Picture 4: 47 inch (4 feet is show for reference) Rubber Ballast Block Top. Picture 5: 47 inch (4 feet is shown for reference) Rubber Ballast Block Perspective. 1. Question: The weight estimates that are given in the solicitation, however, are about half of the estimated weight of a product we would produ ce with the given dimensionals. Could the estimates given be in error or is the material to be used something other than rubber? 1. Answer: The material is rubber for the Rubber Ballast Blocks. The dimensions and weights are listed correctly in the Solicit ation. Pictures of the Rubber Ballast Blocks are located at our web site http://www.yuma.army.mil/contracting/index.html. Please note that Picture 1 shows the Rubber Ballast Block with an 8 inch diameter hole cut through lengthwise. 2. Question: The estim ated weights, however, seem to be about half of what products made with natural or synthetic rubber would weigh? Can you check to see if weights are correct? 2. Answer: Please see the answer that was provided for the first question (1. Answer). 3. Question : On the rubber, what Mil Spec should the rubber be and packaging in accordance with Mil Standard? 3. Answer: Per the solicitation this requirement is for commercial items. Therefore, Military Specifications and Military Standards do not apply to this req uirement. 4. Question: What I would like to propose is that these be made from thinner material laminated to your desired thickness. All the other requirements would remain. 4. Answer: The required material is rubber. An alternate or substitute material wi ll not meet our requirement.
