- Project 502-01-108 Furnish all labor, material and equipment to install a Fire Detection and Alarm System Upgrade at VA Medical Center, Alexandria, Louisiana. Work includes but not limited to furnishing all labor, equipment, materials, insurance and supervision to install and make operable an upgrade to the existing fire detection/alarm system (FDAS) and sprinkler system. Upgrades shall include but not limited to automatic detection, wiring, fiber optics, cabling, summonsing and notification system upgrades. All upgrades shall be code compliant and U. L. compatible with the Honeywell XL 1000 System manufactured by Edwards Systems, Inc. The upgrades to the sprinkler systems shall address the monitoring of the post indicator valves and flow switches. The existing integrated FDAS is installed in all major building on the campus, linking 8 fire alarm control panels (FACP) connected by fiber optics, and 8 fire alarm annunciator panels (FAAP) connected by metallic cables. This campus system reports to one master FACP with computer graphics and printer system at the Fire Station located in Building 15. The existing FACP?s are Honeywell XLS1000 systems, which were installed in 1999 to replace earlier Simplex equipment. Most of the Simplex wiring and devices were reused and/or left in place. The existing sprinkler system consists of a fire pump and loop system with sprinkler flow switches and post indicator valves. List of buildings are shown in the Scope of Work and drawings. All work to be done in strict accordance with drawings, specifications, scope of work and schedules. Construction cost range $1,000,000 to $2,000,000. Completion time 455 calendar days. Ninety calendar day proposal acceptance period required. Solicitation documents and applicable drawings will be made available not earlier than 4-29-05 and will be available for downloading from the website http://www.bos.oamm.va.gov/ or http://www.eps.gov/. Offerors will need to click on Solicitation 502-07-05 to download the documents. Pre-bid and walk through of the project time and location will be addressed in the solicitation. Any amendments issued to this solicitation will be available at this web address. Offerors are advised that they are responsible for obtaining amendments, it is essential that offerors register on solicitation mailing list for this solicitation to receive notification of amendments. Award to be made based on price in accordance with formally advertised sealed bid procedures. NAICS Code 238990 applies.
