Description

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Applied Biosystems, 850 Lincoln Centre Drive, Foster City, California 94404. The other products reviewed, although similar, did not meet the exact specifications needed to fulfill the mission of the BioWatch program. The program has already installed ABI Prism 7000 workstation throughout the United States. These workstations must all be the same for the security of the program and the security of the staff involved. Last year Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) bought 19 of these workstations for the program after determining that they fit all criteria for the testing protocol. Constant use has validated this decision. This is the only known system that can be integrated with CDC existing system which is the same manufacturer and model. CDC believes that this requirements is met by only one provider. This procurement will be processed under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. Only one responsible source and no other services will satisfy agency requirements. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
