Description

One deHavilland Beaver to support the NOAA, National Marine Mammal Laboratory. The aircraft will be used to survey harbor seals in Disenchantment Bay and Icy Bay outside of Yakutat, Alaska. The start date will be May 1, 2005 and the aircraft will work intermittently until approximately September 30, 2005. The project estimates 98 flight hours over this time frame. Aircraft will be equipped with wheels, advanced GPS navigation system to meet accuracy standards for course and altitude, belly camera hatch with open cargo area around the hatch is required, FM radio, VOX intercom system with headsets for two passengers, and a single bench seat behind the pilot to accommodate computers and provide workspace for biologist. Vendor must have an Aircraft Rental Agreement (ARA) with Alaska Regional Office of Aviation Management. Pilot and aircraft will be approved for precision reconnaissance. Pilot shall have experience in marine mammal survey techniques.
