- Description
- This is only a Request for Information. The Social Security Administration (SSA) is seeking vendors who can provide an SNA Firewall for SNA connectivity including both Native SNA and Native IP implementations. Native SNA environment includes: Subarea/SNI and APPN environments. The classic SNA/IP integration solution is IBM???s Enterprise Extender, which constitutes both Native IP (UDP) and Native SNA (APPN) for many system platforms. However, the product sought must run on IBM???s z/OS systems (V1R5 and up). In order to effectively control, monitor and detect unauthorized access and/or connectivity to approved external Business Partner entities of the SNA network, SSA requires state-of-the-art SNA Firewall capabilities to protect mainframe systems. The specific requirements include: ???Ability to identify and categorize risk of cross-network traffic and identify RJE, LU6.2, 3270, CP-CP ???Capability of identifying pass-through traffic as well as inappropriate session-initiation request, as well as the controls to further provide external security by way of preventing of unauthorized mainframe access and bandwidth consumption ??????Monitor mode??? capabilities as well as ???reject mode??? to allow flexible management of configuration and implementation schedules ???User interface and configuration simplicity that allows ???filtering??? capability with sufficient levels of granularity to enable categorical grouping of ???logical connections??? ???Providing ability to correlate ???logical connections??? to ???physical connections??? and making record of those correlations ???Recording methods must include logged reporting as well as support for SMF recording records. Any firm that feels they have the capability of providing a product off of a GSA schedule contract that can meet these requirements is requested to respond, in writing, within 15 days of this notice. Responses must be specific as to the product proposed and must include detailed specifications. Vendors may submit pricing data. This is not a request for proposal and the Government does not intend to pay for information submitted. The Government will not award a contract based on responses received; however, SSA will use this information to assess capable sources. SSA will not provide acknowledgement of responses received. Responses can be sent via email to Joan Smith at joan.m.smith@ssa.gov. No submissions may exceed 5MB. Responses should refer to Synopsis Number KT04052005.
