Description: The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) intends to negotiate a single source contract with American Science and Engineering located at 829 Middlesex Turnpike, Billerica, MA 01821-3907, as a follow on effort in support of the Next Generation Compton Imager (NexGenCI) project. The proposed base period is nine months from the date of contract award with options to extend 15 months after contract award. The NexGenCI project seeks to significantly upgrade existing x-ray backscatter, whole-body-imaging, bulk detection portals already in use by the TSA. The TSA knows of only two vendors presently producing the x-ray backscatter machines, which have the unique capabilities for detecting threats while assuring privacy.
