Description
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) has a requirement for managerial and operational support services for it?s Computer Operations, located at the BEP Washington, D.C. Facility, as well as provide support to the Western Currency Facility (WCF) located in Fort Worth, Texas via dedicated consolidated network lines. The anticipated period of performance for this contract is one twelve (12) month base period with four (4) twelve month option periods. The Computer Operations Center is operable seven days a week, twenty-four (24) hours a day. The Computer Operations Center consists of Windows, IBM and Unix platforms. The main subsystems are comprised of the following: (1) hardware components; (2) software components; (3) communications components; (4) output/production control; (5) media library; and (6) help desk. Successful management and operation of the Computer Operations Center shall include, but not be limited to, the following: (1) provide technical expertise to meet BEP?s computer requirements and operational support services, inclusive of scheduling and controlling workflow through computer operations, performing input/output validations and distributing products to the end user; (2) staying apprised of state-of-the art hardware/software requirements; (3) performing minor maintenance such as the cleaning of printers; (4) maintaining all systems, error and job logs; (5) installing system procedures, utilities and new versions of IBM and other related proprietary software; and (6) providing daily, weekly and monthly backup of all IBM systems as required. In addition, the Contractor shall be responsible for meeting production cycle requirements such as (1) ensuring that production schedules are maintained, (2) output is distributed in a timely manner, and (3) jobs are initiated in proper sequence. The solicitation and applicable attachments will be available on or about May 16, 2005 and a thirty (30) day response time is planned.
