- Description
- Project consists of mechanical site preparation by disc trenching on an estimated 172 acres of logged National Forest land by use of a crawler tractor or skidder. The work areas are located within the boundaries of the Superior National Forest, Laurentian Ranger District, St. Louis and Lake Counties, Minnesota. Contractor will have to provide a tractor with a minimum of 125 H.P. (approximately a D-7 or skidder of equivalent power). It will be equipped with a V-rock rake blade to align slash, brush and sprouts. If the tractor used for the mechanical site prep, bracke scarify, or disc trench is a crawler type, it should be equipped with track pads having grousers in good condition. If the tractor used for mechanical site prep or disc trencher is of a skidder type, it must have at least two tire chains. These tire chains will be used unless it can be shown that operation is just as effective without them. Equipment used for the mechanical site prep shall be equipped with a Forest Service approved spark arrestor, safety canopy, serviceable fire extinguisher and a v-rock rake blade in good condition. Desired date for starting work is July 1, 2005 with a completion date of September 30, 2005. This time includes final cleanup of the premises. Direct ALL TECHNICAL QUESTIONS to Steven Lerol at 218-229-8813. This project is 100% set aside for small business concerns. A small business concern is defined as a firm whose gross annually revenues do not exceed 6 million when averaged over a three year period. Solicitation package will be posted IN ITS ENTIRETY at this site in 2-3 weeks
