Description

The work of this contract consists of the surface repairs to the historic Century of Progress retaining wall which dates back to approximately 1935. Work in general is cosmetic and includes but is not limited to: removal of unsound material, crack repairs by epoxy injection, repair of spalled areas to original architectural contours with concrete epoxy, concrete pargeting of the entire wall followed by final application of whitewash to match the orginal color. The wall is approximately 400 feet in lenght and 4-6' high. The extent of restoration shall include the following: the front face of the entire wall, the top of the entire wall, the back of the entire wall to a depth of 1 1/2" (i.e. the wall's back cap camfer), the side faces of the wall at all residence stairs equal to the thickness of the wall, the side faces of the wall at the gap between residences 231 & 241 Lake Front Drive, the back wall at the gap between residences 231 & 241 Lake Front Drive on the east side to a interior width of 6", and the back of the wall at the gap beween residences 231 & 241 Lake Front Drive on the west side to a interior width of 18".
