Description
The Department of Energy???s Carlsbad Field Office has two contract opportunities: one for Unrestricted and one Small Business set-aside. A formal Request for Proposals will be issued in the Spring 2005 timeframe. The services required are for transportation services necessary to support Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP), including transportation of mixed Contact Handled (CH) and Remote Handled (RH) TRU waste, and asbestos and PCB contaminated TRU waste between generator sites and WIPP; transportation of CH and RH TRU waste between generator sites; transportation of CH and RH TRU waste between other CBFO designated sites; transportation of training units or empty shipping containers to training exercises and/or public awareness events; trailer maintenance; and, acquisition of other equipment as designated by CBFO. The Contractors will be required to provide tractors, and all equipment necessary to support the shipping. Trailers used to transport waste containers will be provided by the government as government furnished property. The Contractors will be required to provide drivers who meet the U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT) driver licensing, training and physical qualification requirements for hazardous waste transportation, as well as training specified in the solicitation. Contracts will be Fixed Price Service Contracts with actual cost reimbursements for such items as fuel, permits, escort fees, New Mexico gross receipt taxes. DOE is actively seeking unrestricted and small businesses interested in performing this work. Interested parties should register in the Department of Energy (DOE) Industry Interactive Procurement System (IIPS) at http://www.pr.doe.gov. In order to submit a proposal, contractors will also be required to obtain a DUNS number and register in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) at www.ccr.gov. The solicitation documents will also be available for download on the IIPS site when issued.
