- 17. The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) intends to award a sole source fixed-price contract in accordance with FAR Part 12. This action is under the authority of FAR 6.302.1, only one responsible source and no other supplies will satisfy agency requirements. The USCG intends to purchase a total of 60,000 magazines for the SIGARMS Incorporated P229R-DAK handgun, with options to purchase up to an addition 60,000 magazines for this handgun over the following four years. SIGARMS Incorporated is located at 18 Industrial Drive, Exeter, NH 03110. SIGARMS was awarded a contract to provide handguns to all DHS armed security officers following stringent handgun testing, and the USCG is transitioning to this new handgun as the standard service sidearm. The magazines for the SIGARMS P229R-DAK handguns were also tested as part of the DHS contract and meet the stringent specifications set forth by the company for their firearms. The use of magazines by any other company would affect the reliability, durability, and safety of the SIGARMS handguns that have been procured by the USCG, and would also void the warranty that is provided by SIGARMS for these handguns.
