Description
The University of California, which operates the Los Alamos National Laboratory under contract to the Department of Energy, solicits companies interested in licensing and collaborative research and development opportunities with Los Alamos National Laboratory in its portfolio of solid state gas sensor technology. * Note: This is not a procurement or grant opportunity. Over the past decade, scientists and engineers at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) have developed a family of solid state gas sensors that are accurate, reliable, and inexpensive to manufacture, which have wide range of applications and capabilities of interest to a variety of industries. Applications Advantages CO, NOx, Hydrocarbon and Oxygen monitoring & sensing for: ?X Combustion optimization ?X Emissions control ?X Personnel safety and compliance ?X Explosives detection In the following industries: ?X Automotive ?X Power Generation ?X Fuel Cell ?X Chemical ?X Residential and Industrial Safety & Hygiene ?X Homeland Security ?X Cost effective and scalable fabrication processes ?X Inexpensive materials ?X Sensors are operable in harsh environments ?X Capable of part per million (ppm) range detection ?X Reproducible and stable responses ?X Response time can be customized to the sensor application Select LANL Solid State Gas Sensor IP: ?X Solid State Oxygen Sensor (US Patents 5,543,025 & 5,695,624) ?X Enhanced Electrodes for Solid State Gas Sensors (US Patent 6,277,256) ?X Electrodes for Solid State Gas Sensor (US Patent 6,605,202) ?X Electrodes for Solid State Gas Sensor ?V Method, (Case S100,634, patent pending) ?X Method for Forming a Potential Hydrocarbon Sensor with Low Sensitivity to Methane and CO (US Patent 6,656,336) ?X Mixed Potential Hydrocarbon Sensor with Low Sensitivity to Methane and CO, (Case S102,315, patent pending) ?X Thin Film Mixed Potential Sensors, (Case S100,655, patent pending) ?X Explosives Detection Sensor, (Case S104,869) ?X Tape Casting Method for the Manufacture of Gas Sensors, (Case S104,887) Any organization interested in entering further discussions with Los Alamos National Laboratory to non-exclusively license or enter collaborative research and development of the technologies must respond with a Letter of Interest. The Letter of Interest shall include a description of the company??s (1) business and business goals (2) motivation for pursuing this opportunity and (3) specific fields of use for applying the technology. Failure to provide this information may be grounds to consider your Letter of Interest as not being a qualified or an acceptable response to this request. The Laboratory may exclude your company from consideration under this condition. The Letter of Interest must provide the information requested above in order for the respondent to be considered a qualified respondent. The Letter of Interest is requested by COB April 1, 2005. Following the execution of a Nondisclosure Agreement, as appropriate, qualified respondents will be provided with technical data that will enable them to evaluate the technology. Qualified respondents that wish to enter into negotiations for licensing or collaborative research agreements will be required to submit a comprehensive business plan or product commercialization plan during May 2005, prior to selection and negotiations. Please send Letters of Interest to the attention of Charles Gibson, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Industrial Business Development Program Office, Mail Stop C334, Los Alamos, New Mexico 87545; or email them to [charliegib@lanl.gov].
