- Description
- The White Sands Directorate of Contracting in support of the U.S. Army Intelligence Center intends to award a contract to Securimetrics, 757 Arnold Dr., Suite D, Martinez, CA 94553 on a sole source basis. The contract is for the development and purc hase of a tethered version of their Portable Iris Enrollment and Recognition (PIER) device. The PIER was integrated into the Biometrics Automated Toolset (BAT) developed at the USAIC in 2002 and upgraded to the latest version of PIER in 2003. The PIER is a stand alone system. There is an urgent requirement of enrolling large numbers of persons of interest using a biometrics system in supporting the War on Terrorism. In order to reduce the cost of the BAT to enable more prolific fielding, USAIC requires a tethered version. The use of any other source would result in substantial duplication of cost to the Government that can not be recovered through competition and would result in unacceptable delays. Interested parties must submit a statement of interes t and qualification no later than 2:00 pm MT on 25 Feb 2005. See Note 22.
