- The Army Contracting Agency, Northern Region; Dugway Proving Ground, Utah Directorate of Contracting (hereinafter referred to as the Government) is seeking potential contractors with the following capabilities: (1) a biological production train that has (a) two side-by-side 1500 liter (L) fermentors (or reasonably close in size) that can be run and experimentally assayed simultaneously; and (b) one scale-up line (15L to a 130L) that can grow a single culture of sporulating bacteria to be split evenly into the two 1500 L describe in (a). (2) The company must also have the ability and be willing to (1) grow Bacillus anthracis Sterne strain at 1500L quantities, 1 to 5 x 10(9 power) starting concentration, 95 to 99 percent sporulated, in complex Leighton- Doi media (the Government suggests heat-shocking to synchronize culture for good sporulation); (2) use a corrosive agent (oxidative) against sporulating bacterial population in fermentors; and (3) dispose of the waste from the fermentor after experimentati on as hazardous. The purpose of this announcement is to determine the extent of industry interest and experience in the requirement listed above, and to identify the potential socioeconomic classification (e.g., large business, small business, small disad vantaged business, etc.). No proposals are being requested or accepted under this synopsis. The anticipated North American Industry Classification System Code (NAICS) for this requirement is 541710 and the small business size standard is 500 employees. Qualified companies are encouraged to respond. Responses should provide the pertinent details, experience, and current capabilities related to the stated requirement so Government personnel can assess the ability of the industry and the interest company to contribute to the above stated program. Interested sources should also state their business size classification as it relates to the above stated NAICS standard. Interested sources are also encouraged to submit product literature, published or establi shed price lists in response to this Request for Information (RFI). Any submission of such product literature or catalog cut sheets will be treated separate from, and will have no bearing on, any subsequent evaluation of proposals submitted in response to any resulting future formal Request for Proposal. No basis for claim against the Government shall arise as a result of a response to this sources sought or Government use of any information provided. The Government will not pay for information or commen ts provided and will not recognize any costs associated with submission of comments.
