Description
MARKET RESEARCH. NO SOLICITATION DOCUMENT EXISTS. ? The United States Marine Corps has a requirement to meet the mobility/counter-mobility requirement identified in Urgent Universal Need Statement CDTS # 04320UG for a Multi-Purpose Blade Assembly. The Multi-Purpose Blade Assembly will be semi-permanently attached to the M1A1 Main Battle Tank, and will provide for hasty removal of roadblocks (rubble, automobiles, and other emplaced obstacles), hasty crossing of ditches, pipelines, rapid digging of defensive positions, and other miscellaneous tasks to enhance the mobility of the mechanized force on the battlefield. The system will be used as a rapidly employable, organic asset of the Tank Battalion, capable of easy, rapid attachment/detachment from the M1A1 Tank. The USMC is interested in obtaining a source that can adapt an already existing Blade Assembly to the M1A1 Tank, without interfering with the lethality, mobility, or capability to attach other special missions kits, such as the Track Width Mine Plow. A fully functional M1A1 Tank, with other agreed upon Government Furnished Equipment would be provided to support this evaluation. In addition, the existing Blade Assembly must be fully developed and in use by at least one Defense Force. It is important to note to any prospective vendor that the USMC is not interested in any development of the assembly itself or associated control assemblies, wiring harnesses, motors, hydraulic cylinders and associated support and test equipment. Our interest extends only to refinement of existing mounting mechanisms/hardware that will allow a fully developed blade assembly to be rapidly attached/detached from the M1A1 Tank. Additionally, the assembly, when attached and employed, cannot interfere with lethality or mobility capabilities of the M1A1 Tank. All vendors having the capability of meeting these requirements are requested to submit copies of relevant documentation in response to this Request for Information at no cost to the Government. Written responses should be submitted not later than close of business 9 March 2004. Firms should also include literature, brochures, and capabilities summaries directly addressing their ability to meet the aforementioned needs. The submission of the product information should not be construed as a commitment to procure equipment. The Government will not pay for any information submitted. No telephonic responses will be accepted. Responses should be submitted to the contact person listed above at Commander, Marine Corps Systems Command, ATTN CTQ, 2200 Lester Street, Quantico, VA 22134. THE SUBMISSION OF THIS INFORMATION IS FOR PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY AND IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS A COMMITMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT TO PROCURE ANY ITEMS/SERVICES, NOR FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO PAY FOR THE INFORMATION RECEIVED.
