Maintain operability of current internet/extranet portal architecture, 48FW.Com Questions and Answers: 48FW.Com Updated 28 January 2005 Q: Do you know of similar type projects of this length of time and what the costs were? A: We are the only Base in USAFE doing this but Langley and Hawaii Q: Is there currently a SharePoint Portal solution in place? A: Yes the severs have all been built and the site is up and running. If so, what is the current Intranet / Extranet architecture Currently we are running Sharepoint 2003 in a medium Sever farm architecture. But looking to grow to a large server farm with LCS Can you or the customer provide me diagrams of the current solution? Cannot disclose network architecture.. Just that we have built off of the Microsoft whitepapers Med server farm with a Microsoft consultant. Q: Have hardware and software licenses been purchased? A: Yes most of them except 2 SQL licenses which will be purchased by March Q: What is the purpose of the portal; what are they currently using the Intranet/Extranet for; what is it they hope to be able to do with SharePoint Portal 2003 and LCS? A: We are currently using it to provide all normal base information on a intranet/extranet plus the capability of accessing our ESN drives (team sites) and we are using our mysites as collaboration areas.. LCS will be used on base only not through the extranet Q: SharePoint can be extended extensively, how much integration do they want to do with other applications (other than LCS)? A: Right now we are just looking to integrate LCS, K2 and Merido are not on our scope at all The hired contractor/s will be working with our 3 person team. The portal has been developed and we are looking now more to sustainment and upgrading capabilities within SharePoint. LCS integration is still/was suppose to be advertised as a future capability and only if it is approved at MAJCOM. Q: What about Back up and anti-virus solutions, and I would like to know what vendor/software packages are being used as well as versions and support. A: We're working on a backup solution with the NOSC at USAFE. The contractor will need to be familiar with our solution, but will not need to manage it or be responsible for it. We use Comvault. Q: The ammended SOW asks for 25 hours/week. Is that a total of 50 hours for two people or just 25 hours for one? A: We need someone on site for 25 hours a week. They can send 2 people here if they need to, but we only need those 25 hours covered. Q: Can you please clarify what parts may need to be purchased as described in Para 2.1.2. A: 2.1.2. Equipment. The Government will provide the contractor property that is needed to satisfy the requirements of this contract except for any parts that are required to be purchased. Government will provide maximum 2 work stations and telephone for local and base calls as well as LAN access. Q: Is there any logistical support for this requirement A: No, logistical support is not authorized for this specific requirement.
