Description
NSWCCD Code 633, the Wastewater Management Branch, is interested in finding sources for commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS), Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR), Tank Level Indicators (TLIs) for possible use aboard US Naval vessels in their Oily Waste Holding Tanks and Waste Oil Tanks. Code 633 is looking for TDR TLI systems that meet the following criteria: are commercially available; can simultaneously detect air-oil and oil-water interfaces; can detect air-oil interface versus air-water interface or no liquid present; can supply 4 to 30-foot, segmented, coaxial TDR TLI probes; probes designed for easy flow-through and ease of cleaning; has self-diagnosis software and tank level alarms; are willing to assist in calibrating and commissioning; are willing to work with the US Navy to modify the software to address complicating factors such as the presence of foam and/or an oil-water emulsion; are willing to work with the US Navy to modify the electronics housing and probe ha! rdware to meet Grade A shock, vibration, and electromagnetic interference (EMI) requirements. If you feel you meet these criteria, please send your technical information, point of contact information, number of TDR TLIs sold, and lead-time for procurement information to: Commander, Carderock Division, NSWC, 9500 MacArthur Boulevard, West Bethesda MD 20817-5700, ATTN: Jon Cofield, Code 633. The technical information should include such items as: whether or not the electronics are top-mounted to the probe or remotely located; in what oil-water applications the system has been used; demonstrated ability to simultaneously track two interfaces, air-oil and oil water; include supporting data; probe availability in multiple segments for ease of installation in deep tanks; if it can be configured for a sloping, L-shaped tank if the system can operate in the presence of particles and fibers; if it is designed for corrosion resistance for the marine environment; if the system has already passed shock, vibration, and/or EMI testing; what, if any, sections of ASTM F 2044 the system meets such as accuracy and precision of readings for two-level indication; format of output signals, 4-20 mA, 0-10 V, or both; whether the probe has top and/or bottom dead zones and the value(s); the ability to access the probes via a flange-mounted assembly on an enclosed tank for ease of removal and cleaning; installation requirements. If this information is available by web, send the web address to CofieldJW@nswccd.navy.mil. Responses required by 11 February 2005. This announcement is not to be perceived as a commitment by the government. This is only to determine possible sources.
