- The National Park Service intends to issue a Prospectus for a concession contract to provide general merchandise sales and limited food service for the general public within Padre Island National Seashore. General merchandise sales and limited food service is offered year-round, but the primary season is March to September. This business opportunity includes a land assignment at the Malaquite Visitor Center Pavillion in addition to a small area located on the beach at Malaquite. Any Offeror that is selected as the new concessioner is obliged to purchase any personal property (equipment, inventory and supplies) utilized by the existing concessioner in its operation. The existing concession contract between the National Park Service and the existing concessioner expires by limitation of time on December 31, 2005. The Director, pursuant to 36 CFR Part 51, has determined that the existing concessioner is a preferred Offeror for this contract. One contract will be issued for this commercial service. The length of the new contract will be for ten (10) years. Any offer, including that of the existing concessioner, must be received by the Acting Chief, Business Resources Division, National Park Service, Intermountain Region, P.O. Box 25787, Denver, Colorado, 80225-0287 (Federal Express address: 12795 W. Alameda Parkway, Lakewood, CO 80228) no later than ninety (90) days after the date of publication of this notice in order to be evaluated and considered for an award of a concession contract to provide general merchandise sales and limited food service within Padre Island National Seashore. Effective Date: The Prospectus will be issued for a 90 day response period under the terms described in the Prospectus, with proposals due on April 25, 2005, no later than 4:00 p.m. There is a printing cost recovery charge of $35 per copy to be delivered via Federal Express or $30 per copy if picked up in person. Checks or money orders (no cash accepted) must be payable to the National Park Service and you must include a physical address, not a P.O. Box, and telephone number.
