- This is a notice of our intent to pre-qualify general contractors for construction of a new carrier annex in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Primary factors to be considered are company background, past performance, experience, financial stability, capacity to perform, bonding capacity and safety. Pre-qualification statements will be evaluated by a USPS committee and all General Contractors will be advised within 60 days of receipt of their application as to pre-qualification status. General Contractors selected as being the most qualified will be placed on the pre-qualification list for the this project. DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The new carrier annex will be approximately 16,200 square feet. The building will be brick veneer and concrete masonry unit construction with a steel structure. The interior includes a large workroom area with mechanized postal equipment, a small customer service area, office areas, and employee areas. It will also include two loading docks and a carrier canopy. The site will be paved for car, truck, and delivery parking and will be fenced in entirely. The project will include security items inside the building and on the site, such as card access and video equipment. The building will include a sprinkler system. The total construction time is estimated to be 270 days. The estimated construction cost range is $2,500,000 to $3,100,000. USPS subcontracting goals for this contract are minimums of 40% for small businesses (less than 500 employees), 10% for minority-owned businesses and 7% for women-owned businesses. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: (1) Contractors must possess a valid contractor?s license or provide a copy of the application to obtain such license in the State of New Jersey. (2) Contractors must have been in business, under the company?s present name, for a minimum of five (5) consecutive years. (3) Contractors must have completed two comparable projects within the past five (5) years.
