Description

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agriculture Research Service (ARS) intends to negotiate solely with ALMACO, Nevada, Iowa, to provide modifications to a government owned New Holland TR88 Twin Rotor Combine. The work consists of spliting the combine entry area to achieve the capacity to harvest two individual 30 inch row plots simultaneously, ensuring that the grain from each plot is completely separated without contamination between buckets, accurate trait measurements are taken and stored in a hand-held data collection computer with needed capacity, programming features, and an acceptable level of user expertise required. The finished product must be able to complete each plot pass in 18 seconds with the sampler/packager, or less than 23 seconds with the sampler/package. It is critical that the company selected to do this work be able to provide prompt and competent service support during harvest seasons. The end-product must be compatible with the Almaco sampler and packager. Estimated award date is February 7, 2005. Companies with demonstrated capability and financial capacity to provide and service such equipment must submit a written substantive statement outlining the company's and system's capabilities to the Contracting Officer within 15 days of publication of this notice.
