Description
This Federal Business Opportunity Announcement is notice that the TRICARE Region 6, 7 & 8 which includes 46 Military Medical Treatment Facilities (MTFs) in the states of Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, Nebra ska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Texas, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming are initiating a standardization review for the product line of HAND SANITIZERS. The intent of this standardization is to establish regionally preferred sources for hospital supp ly items and to standardize purchasing of these products for the MTFs. Additional TRICARE Regions may elect to join after the award. Clinical Product Teams (CPT) will evaluate this product line. CPTs are composed of Physicians, Nurses, Medical Technicia ns, Infection Control Officers, and other clinicians who have expertise and knowledge of the products. They will review and technically evaluate the products submitted. TRICARE Region 6, 7 & 8 deems the CPT members to be medical experts. Therefore, they are qualified to determine which products are acceptable. Their recommendation can be accomplished by literature review, presentation demonstration or clinical evaluation. Companies interested in having their products evaluated for possible inclusion in the standardization process should carefully review the stated requirements below. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS for this product line include but are not limited to the following: 1. Is your product fragrance free? 2. Does your product have broad spectrum an timicrobial activity? 3. What is the amount of time for efficacy to be reached? 4. Does your product provide persistent antimicrobial activity? 5. Does your product have ingredients that protect skin from drying and irritation? 6. Does your product stain items? 7. Does your product leave a residue or build up on the skin? 8. Are there any soaps, scrubs, lotions, or gloves that are not compatible with your product? 9. What is the average length of time it takes for the product to dry? 10. Is t here any special handling required with the use of this product? 11. What type of dispenser(s) is/are available for your product? 12. Does the submitter offer free de-installation, installation, and wall repair of the wall mounted dispensers? 13. Are dispensers to be installed at no cost to the facility? 14. Is your company able to serve all MTFs in the states identified above with clinical support, educational programs and utilization reports? 15. Can your company provide volume discounts and sup port a return goods policy? 16. Can your company provide and assist in a plan of implementation, including a conversion chart to show competitors like items? If your company currently holds a Distribution and Pricing Agreement (DAPA) for the Medical-Surgical product line for HAND SANITIZERS, your company is eligible to participate in this standardization action. Please notify the point of contact (POC) below b y e-mail with your company name, DAPA number, company POC, and phone/fax number. If your company is not a current DAPA holder for this product line, you are still eligible to participate in this standardization effort for this region by contacting the Def ense Supply Center Philadelphia (DSCP), Mr. John Charalabidis at (215) 737-7124 or e-mail (John.Charalabidis@dla.mil) to apply for a DAPA. Your company can be considered once DAPA paperwork is pending at DSCP. After you have notified the POC of your inte nt to participate, the POC will advise you of the next steps to take. To learn more about the Regional Standardization Program, review www.dla.mil. Distribution of these products for the MTFs will be accomplished through Cardinal Health, the DoD Medical- Surgical Prime Vendor for Region 6, 7 & 8. If your company can provide any of these products, please forward literature of all items available from your company that meet the product descriptions above and any corresponding product literature no la ter than February 23, 2005. Those companies that do not reply by this date may be eliminated from consideration. If the CPT recommends a company, the TRBO may request sales data to facilitate a conversion plan. This information will be treated as propri etary and not releasable. Suppliers may be required to conduct clinical trails and provide clinical samples at no cost to the government.
