Description
Please send questions to spolk@cc.nih.gov--NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE Spiritual Care Ministry services are provided to patients and their families at the Clinical Center. The services of a chaplain are essential to provide pastoral visits and sacramental visits to patients throughout the Clinical Center or on an as needed basis. This coverage is essential for adequately staffing the Department?s on-call system as well as meeting the daily spiritual needs of patients and their families when the assigned Staff Chaplain is on authorized absences for annual leave, sick leave, retreats, or conferences. Tasks: The contractor shall: (a) Ascertain the names and locations of specific patients and their families located within the Clinical Center; (b) Determine the religion at time of admission as ?Other ? Protestant and other faiths?; (c) Consult with the Chief Department of Spiritual Ministry or Acting Chief; (d) Assess each specific patient contacted to determine the needs for pastoral ministries; (e) Determine the type and kind of pastoral/priestly need that the patient and/or patient family has, and (f) Respond appropriately to the need as assessed. (g) Consult with staff or parish clergy as appropriate. As appropriate other patients may be visited referrals made particularly at the time of extremis. The Associate Chaplain at the Clinical Center will provide ministry services and spiritual needs to patients and their family on an as needed basis, and provide daily pastoral and sacramental visits to patients in the Clinical Center; make entries of patient visits and follow-up visits in the CRIS (Clinical research information System). All sacramental supplies are provided by the Chief of the SMD along with use of telephone and fax services. Statement Time Period: January 31, 2005 through May 27, 2005.
