Description
The US Army Natick Soldier Center, on behalf of the Joint Project Management Office - Individual Protection (JPMO-IP), is conducting a market research and investigation seeking sources of materials to be used for field expedient repair of items which protect against chemical/biological (CB) warfare agents. Repairs will be performed on rips and tears which occur in field operations in a CB environment. The field expedient repair materials shall possess generic repair capabilities for all current CB cl othing ensembles, to include protective suits, boots and gloves, and protective packaging. Suit technologies used in current suits are woven, non-woven, and knitted textiles, as well as membranes laminated to fabric substrates. Boot materials are vinyl, ru bber, and elastomers. Gloves consist of knit fabrics, rubber, and impermeable film. Protective packagings are made of nylon foil, and of polyethylene. The field expedient repair material shall not degrade the chemical protective resistance of the items to which it is applied and shall provide equivalent protection. This market investigation is seeking innovative commercial off-the-shelf material solutions. Information submitted will be used to evaluate the state of the market for the purpose of determining if suitable generic field expedient repair materials currently exist. Interested sources shall provide a description of the field expedient repair material, define how to perform the repair while in Mission-Oriented Protective Posture (MOPP) level 4, iden tify ways of determining that the repair was successfully done, and indicate the ease of transporting the repair material by an individual in a field environment. Information should include product cost, literature and illustrations, relevant company back ground, experience, and a sample. If a firm chooses to submit product samples, the Government will make no payment for such samples. Please submit information and samples to US Army Natick Soldier Center, ATTN: Marie Jean-Pierre AMSRD-NSC-IP-JS, Room D21 5, Kansas Street, Natick, MA 01760. Any questions can be directed to Ms. Marie Jean-Pierre at JSC@natick.army.mil. This Request for Information (RFI) does not constitute a Request For Proposal (RFP) and is not to be construed as a commitment from the Gov ernment. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this notice, nor otherwise pay for information/materials. Product samples will not be returned. Interested sources must, within thirty (30) days following the publication of thi s synopsis, respond with information on their product(s). Firms responding shall indicate whether or not they are a small business.
