Description

The Department of State?s National Foreign Affairs Training Center, Foreign Service Institute (FSI) provides training and professional development to personnel of the Department of State and the Foreign Service community. The mission of the Area Studies Division of the School of Professional and Area Studies (SPAS/AS) at the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) is to provide members of the foreign affairs community with the essential knowledge of the country or region in which they work in order that they may advance the foreign policy objectives of the United States of America. FSI/SPAS/AS seeks a contractor to coordinate the Insular Southeast Asian Advanced Area Studies Course that meets weekly for three hours on Tuesday afternoons. The course covers the key historical, political, economic, and socio-cultural themes for the region as well as American interests and policy issues in Insular Southeast Asia. The Coordinator is responsible for organizing and conducting the course; operating the course within budget; selecting and inviting guest speakers in accordance with Foreign Service Institute procedures; attending all sessions; introducing guest lecturers, making lecture presentations; leading class discussions, counseling and evaluating students and other related duties as described in the Statement of Work.
