Description

Provide a variety of services to assist the Bureau of Reclamation with the management of paleontological resources on Reclamation-administered lands. General tasks to be performed include: (1) conduct pre-field research and field surveys to identify, relocate and document paleontological sites. Visit and document newly reported paleontological sites. Identify management concerns and make a recommendation for protection'preservation based on value of the site and importance of its loss; (2) do field stabilization to prevent damage/destruction/loss of valuable resources; (3) excavate/collect selected specimens as agreed upon by Reclamation and do field processing/preparation for off-site transport and storage; and (4) process and prepare specimens and associated documentation for curation/exhibition according to the museum property standards. Provide short-term curation until Reclamation identifies a permanent repository for curation. Professional qualifications: All aspects of the work shall be supervised by an individual who as a minimum has a graduate degree in paleontology (or geology, biology, or zoology with a paleontological emphasis) and is a currently qualified professional in the discipline. One-year indefinite quantity contract with option to renew for an additional 3 years. Task orders to be issued for specific services as needed. Minimum requirement $2000 per year; maximum requirement $25,000 per year. North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 541990. Competition is restricted to small businesses. Small business size standard = $6.0 million average annual receipts. Estimated price range of total contract (including option years) is $25,000 to $100,000.
