- The United States Coast Guard Maintenance & Logistics Command, Atlantic intends to issue a Commercial Request for Quote (RFQ) for Dockside repairs to the USCGC MACKINAW (WAGB-83). The Coast Guard intends to conduct this procurement in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items, and FAR Subpart 13.5, Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. The simplified acquisition will be issued as a Best Value, Request for Quote (RFQ), on or about January 21, 2005. The RFQ will be issued via the Federal Business Opportunity (FEDBIZOPS) web page at www.eps.gov. Hard copies of the specification and solicitation will not be issued. A CD-ROM containing all applicable drawings will be sent via U.S. mail, if requested. Send all request via e-mail to awoodley@mlca.uscg.mil. It is incumbent upon contractors to monitor the FEDBIZOPS web page for RFQ release and all subsequent amendments. FEDBIZOPS also contains an option automatic notification service. The standard industrial classification code is 3731 and the NAIC is 336611. The homeport of the vessel is Cheboygan, MI. It has not been determined whether the work will be performed at the vessel?s homepier or the contractor?s facility. In the event the place of performance has not been determined prior to issuance of the solicitation, an amendment to the solicitation will be posted on FEDBIZOPS when that determination is made. The performance period is 42 days with a start date on or about May 2, 2005. The scope of the acquisition is to clean fuel and oil tanks; overhaul and renew valves; preserve and disinfect potable water tanks; preserve heel and trim tank; provide temporary logistics; clean and inspect main diesel engine, ship service generator and boiler exhaust ducts; repair and modify ventilation system; replace deck covering system and install F/O cross connect. Provide protective deck covering material. If work is performed at the contractor?s facility, provide storage, lights, power, toilets and showers. Trained welders who have been certified by the applicable regulatory code performance qualification procedures shall accomplish all welding and brazing. The following Geographic Restrictions applies to the USCGC MACKINAW (WAGB-83): Restricted to the Great Lakes.
