- Contractor to provide legal services for the purpose of petitioning the probate and family court for the appointments of guardians of the persons and/or estates of wards who are VA patients. The contractor may nominate and seek the appointments of any suitable persons. The contractor may seek only temporary appointments for the purpose of placing the patient in a facility outside of the VA medical center or may petition for permanent guardianship. When petiiioning, the contractor shall comply in all respects with the General Laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and all applicable probate and family court rules. The contractor shall comply with the Probate Court rules regarding notice requirrements unless the court waives the requirement in which case notice is to follow. Post appointment,the contractor shall promplty advise the guardian in writing as to the nature and extent of the guardian's powers. The issue date is on or about 12/8/04.
