Description
STATEMENT OF WORK FOR CANTOR/HANDBELL CHOIR DIRECTOR 1. GENERAL OVERVIEW 1.1 The U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod Chapel requires the Services of a cantor to perform during both Catholic and Protestant worship services, including special programs and events. 1.2 The director shall also have the ability to direct a hand bell choir, should there be enough volunteers to do so, and to conduct appropriate weekly practices for the hand bell choir from mid-September through mid-May. 1.3 The contractor?s responsibilities are; Lead congregational singing at scheduled worship services and selected special worship services Coordinate with ASCC Chaplains in the selection of music for worship services Recruit and train hand bell choir members Advise and recommend music materials for the music program 1.4 Key personnel concerned with cantor/hand bell choir director Include: Command Chaplain Staff Chaplain 2. QUALIFICATIONS 2.1 Contractor must have a thorough knowledge and familiarity with music normally used in Catholic and Protestant worship services. 2.2 Contractor must have the ability to lead singing in a variety of Worship traditions. 2.3 The contractor must have the ability to coach and direct a hand bell choir. 3. HOURS OF OPERATION 3.1 The contractor shall be available for approximately 163 regular worship services to include weekly 1630 pm Saturday Evening Catholic Mass, 9:00am Sunday Morning Catholic Mass, and the 10:30am Protestant Worship Service. 3.2 The contractor may be required to perform up to 20 special services at the discretion of the Command Chaplain, to include Easter worship services as well as Memorial Services and Special Events. 3.3 The contractor shall work with the Catholic and Protestant Director Of Religious Education in providing music for the Memorial and special programs. 3.4 The contractor shall conduct up to 55 rehearsals during the contract year. 4. PLACE OF PERFORMANCE 4.1 The contractor will arrange for all practice times with choirs and direct those rehearsals at the U.S. Coast Guard Chapel. 4.2 All other locations must be approved in advance by the Command Chaplain or designated representative.
