- NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation NNG05EA50P on a sole source basis for the following item: Deformable Mirror System Electronics includes: -16 x 288 channels -0 to -205 Volts output -13-bit digitization -Voltage stability (several hours) to at least 1/3000 -Compatible with Boston Micromachines 1024 channel deformable mirror system -Delivery within 45 days after receipt of order NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Red Nun Instrument under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c) (1)Only One Responsible Source. The government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR part 12. The government has a requirement for deformable mirror system electronics. These 13-bit controllers are directly compatible with Boston Micromachines deformable mirror systems. These controllers are already constructed and available, and have already been tested. The controllers allows us to provide individual, computer controlled and highly accurate voltages to each of the 1024 actuators in the deformable mirrors for mirror deflection control to <1 nanometer. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact no later than 4:30p.m. local time on November 12, 2004. The capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
