Description
1. Fairchild Air Force Base is requesting industry comment on new and rebuilt paving and curbing work associated with streets, parking lots, driveways, sidewalks and curbs. We are seeking engineering and local industry review of the attached specifications and comments on the following questions: (A) Are the specifications complete and up to date for the manner in which this type of work is currently being performed in the industry? If not, what changes would you recommend.? (B) Are the line items described in the attachments adequate for the tasks? These are new and rebuilt projects ranging from repair to complete demo and reconstruction, asphalt and concrete roads, driveways, parking lots, curbs, and sidewalks as well as repair of any adjacent landscaping. If not, what line items need to be added? (C) As the unit prices for this contract are based on quantity, are the quantity ranges for each main line item sufficient to allow ease of pricing for both the contractor and the government? If not, which line items are deficient and how should they be modified? Please limit the amounts of ranges to be used for the line items. (D) Are the specifications and line items sufficiently clear that contractors can easily follow them to properly price and perform any variation of projects. If not, what improvements should be done to help clarify the specifications and line items? (E) In light of the recent volatility in material prices, would it be reasonable to ask for firm fixed line item pricing for 1-5 years out? 2. Please submit all comments to Richard Hedrick at richard.hedrick@fairchild.af.mil no later than 10 Dec 04. If you should have any question please contact Richard Hedrick at (509) 247-5767, or e-mail at richard.hedrick@fairchild.af.mil. We welcome comments in any other area we may have omitted in the questions listed above.
